about me

Sally-anne hickman

I have been teaching informative and fun comics workshops in schools and museums in London since 2014. Focusing on graphic storytelling, character design and Japanese Manga art, I have worked with young children to adults helping them create their own comic strips and artwork.

Alongside my practice of workshops I studied for a Masters of Arts degree from the University of Arts London, where I began writing my graphic novel about my experiences of growing up in a mining village in the 1980s.

I have hosted events around the UK for the Big Draw Festival encouraging all ages to be creative and to develop strong observational techniques for comic art. I am extremely passionate about cartoon art and manga comics. I desire to continue teaching at all levels of ability as I find it a great tool in dealing with emotions and encouraging creativity. See my example workshops page for previous events and please feel free to get in touch for more information.
